24th December, 2021
New South Wales is the most populated Australian state, and it certainly doesn’t lack in incredible national parks and dazzling coastlines waiting to be explored. NSW has something to offer whether you’re a casual hiker or a serious adventurer. With vast rainforests, gorgeous coastal landscapes and mountainous regions, there’s something for everyone.
If you’re looking for a break from a busy city life, here are some of our top spots in NSW for you to discover.
Feel the ocean breeze in Diamond Head
The Diamond Head Campground is a beachside haven in Crowdy Bay National Park. You can pitch your best beach tent in one of its many camping sites and enjoy the sunrise over the ocean. Aside from dipping in the crystal-blue waters, you can also take your pick of the hiking trails available, where you can definitely encounter the local wallabies and kangaroos.
Tackle the wilderness on the Six Foot Track
The Six Foot Track is no doubt one of the best multi-day hikes in NSW. It covers 46km of mountainous terrain through the Blue Mountains National Park. This three day hike takes you through some of the state’s most spectacular scenery, from lush rainforests and waterfalls to protected heritage sites and to the Jenolan Caves. Some level of experience is recommended for this trek.
Reach the peak of Mount Kosciuszko
Mount Kosciuszko is Australia’s highest peak, located in Kosciuszko National Park. On the way to the top, you can also see Lake Cootapatamba, Australia’s highest lake. Mount Kosciuszko offers gorgeous vistas you will not forget, such as beautiful fields of wildflowers and the spectacular alpine landscapes. Best to visit in December through March to avoid the snow.
